Owl on Fence Post

The term to use for this owl sculpture is Black on Black. Looking closely you can distinguish the very shiny black of the owl figure and the dull gray-black of the fence post he is sitting on. The piece will turn black when fired in a special way to mature the clay. Since the firing is a low-fire technique, the surface of pieces like this is fragile and will lend itself to scratches.  So caution has to be used when touching and/or picking up to move it.
